17 December 2008, Press release: The exhibition “Technologies for Climate Protection” is over (57,5 KB)

The exhibition of inventions serving for climate protection, unique on a world scale, which was a side event of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, ended on 14 December 20008 in Poznań. In the course of 2 weeks it was visited by more than 30,000 persons.

After 12 days of negotiations in Poznań, the COP 14 – United Nations Conference on Climate Change – came to an end. Representatives of countries from all over the world succeeded in attaining the objective of making their standpoints much more uniform on the new climate change agreement. Among other things, the Parties found common ground on the launch of the Adaptation Fund and the Poznań Technology Transfer Strategy, and completed the review of the Kyoto Protocol. COP 14 was the biggest political summit ever organized in Poland, and in this part of Europe.

The Ministry of the Environment announced the manner of offsetting the CO2 emission related to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Poznań. For the most part, the GHG emission will be offset by purchases of CO2 credits.

37 planned events, 20 events implemented in a period of les than 2 months, i.e. one action every three days on average. We estimate that a dozen or so thousand people took part in all the events organised by the Ministry and 27 partners.
